Katrina refugee has a rags to riches story...

Belle

with a happy ending.

Meet Belle, she is a Katrina refugee and she has a story to tell you.  Belle is truly a Southern Belle, she is classy, sophisticated, and of course drop dead gorgeous.  While things are great for this southern girl now, early life was not very good for her.

Belle was born in Jackson, Mississippi sometime in 1998 or 1999 as near as we can tell.  She was picked up as an adult stray running around with some puppies in Jackson in 1999.  She was taken to Community Animal Rescue and Adoption Inc (CARA) a non profit no kill shelter.

She was adopted by a family who had her for 3 years.  They trained her, loved her, and took care of her.  For some reason that we will never know, she began showing aggression to the small dogs in the neighborhood.  After she hurt one they decided to bring her back to CARA.  Even though they had her as a family member for 3 years, they dropped her off at the shelter and never looked back.

It’s now 2002, and Belle is again adopted, this time to a single woman who wanted a companion to go with her on walks.  Six months later, the woman stated that she had moved to a new place and was not allowed to have pets.  So Poor Belle was again returned to CARA, this time she would stay there until Katrina, some 2 years later.    more....
