Lula is a lab/chow mix. Lula is a gregarious gal, always the first one to greet me. This picture makes me giggle because for as social as she is, she completely refused to look at the camera. This must be her Marilyn Monroe cheeky look. She has the softest coat, you could just pet her for hours! Lula and her littermates had an unfortunate start to their lives, living outside in harsh conditions with little shelter or protection. One of our partners was able to convince the ow ner of their mom to surrender the puppies so they could get proper care. Unfortunately, they were malnourished and infested with lice when they came to us. We have been able to get the lice under control (killed), and fortunately canine lice doesn't pose a risk to humans.

All puppies are up to date on shots, have had at least two health checks by a veterinarian, have been treated for parasites, and are microchipped.  HBAR puppies are not spayed or neutered, as it is not healthy to alter puppies this young.  However, our contract requires all adopters to spay or neuter puppies by nine months of age at the new owner's expense.  

If you are interested in meeting Lula or his littermates, you must have an approved application with Homeward Bound Animal Rescue.  If you are not ready to bring a puppy into your home immediately, please do not apply for a specific puppy but rather for pre-approval.
