There were 8 pups in this litter from West Virginia. The owner found homes for 5 of them and surrendered the other 3 to a local rescue group. Bear, his brother and sister “Tiger” (also available for adoption) were transported to PA and are currently living in a private foster home. We know they are Golden Retriever mixes, but we don’t know what else that could be.
Bear is a mellow, big teddy bear. He is shy at first, but once he gets over his shyness, he is a sweet baby boy. He loves to be given affection and petted, he also enjoys snuggling into your lap. He has chocolate brown eyes that melt your heart. His thick, gorgeous coat is brown with golden highlights and some light brindled striping. Pictures can’t convey how beautiful he is. Before coming to his foster home, he ran free on a 38 acre lot with his pack. He had never worn a collar, been on leash or been inside a house. He has adapted wonderfully to living indoors with lots of fenced in yard time. Once he got a visit inside a house, he LOVES it. He enjoys hanging out with his human pack, his resident adult step-sister dog and 3 cats. His is the first one in the door when we get home. He likes to play, but also loves to relax and just veg out. He likes the water and enjoyed his first bath. He is practically housebroken. He and his siblings have not had any accidents so far, they go out for the last time of the night at 11 PM and then at 7 AM. They easily respond to positive reinforcement and are eager to please. Bear now walks nicely on a leash. He has been neutered and is current on his vaccinations. He is also on Frontline for flea and tick protection. One of the Homeward Bound volunteers said “Bear just makes you want to go snuggle in bed with him all day.” Bear would love to be in a house with a loving family and other pets to play with. Approved applicants will be invited to meet Bear. Please fill out an adoption application and his foster Mom will be in touch. More about BearGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
