Long Haired AKC German Shepherd Dog

Bella is a beautiful AKC registered Long Haired German Shepherd Dog.  She is a courtesy listing only and not a Homeward Bound Dog.

Bella is a cuddle bug and loves every animal including cats she has met so far.  She will, however, need special accomodations and care.

On February 12th, 2010 Bella was purchased from a breeder in Northern PA and subsequently returned for hip problems approximately 3 months later.  It is unclear whether the owners were unable or unwilling to deal with the dog's special needs.  What is apparent is that she was well trained (housebroken) and well socialized.  As the breeder deemed her without value she was disgarded and thus we obtained her when we were notified.  She was very thin when she arrived, but very friendly.

She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is currently being treated with supplements, diet and exercise.  She is doing markedly better in just the last few days, but the Vet says as for hip dysplasia it is not going to go away and the dog will need ongoing treatment and likely surgery.  She is gaining weight like a champ and getting stronger.
