Moose is one of a litter of six puppies, and what a sad name she bears for a girl puppy.  However, if you would have seen her lying beside her siblings when they were born she immediatley became named Moose.  She was so much bigger then everyone else.  The funniest thing was watching her and Thumbelina curl up together.  They were the best of buddies in the whelping box.  Always cuddled up together.   You'll note that the siblings may have different breed descriptions.  This is because we believe there are multiple fathers to this litter.  My vet is the one who made this call, and he feels that Moose's daddy may have been a border collie.  Their mother, Taylor, is a Sheltie mix and on the small side.  Moose has taken after her daddy and will have a fluffy coat. Although Moose looks huge beside her siblings, she is not an abnormally large puppy.  I think she'll end up being a medium sized dog around 45lbs at adulthood.  Of course when you put her beside Thumbelina who I think might top out at 9lbs at adulthood, she looks huge.  I guess it is all in your perspective.  I've raised Newfie pups that weighed 18lbs at 8 weeks of age.   Moose and her siblings were born in my home, and they have been handled by my family since they were born.  They are very social and quite used to humans picking them up for cuddles.  If you are interested in meeting Moose, you must complete our online adoption application at www.homewardbound2u.rescuegroups.org and then you can email her foster mom at suehollenbach@comcast.net.  These pups have been wormed every week since they were two weeks old.  They received their first DAPP shot at 6 weeks of age.  And they are microchipped with the AVID microchipping system.  Homeward Bound has prepaid the registration fee on the microchip, so there is no cost to the adopters for having the chip.
