Tommy
Tommy

My family and I became fosters for dogs in January 2007.We already had 2 of our own dogs and wanted to help other dogs find the love and homes they so deserve. In February we had already fostered and adopted out several dogs and were waiting for 2 other fosters to arrive, when we were told they were both ill and would have to wait to be transported for a week or two.In the mean time the director Sue Hollenbach asked if I would foster a chihuahua mix until she could find another to take him. This poor guy had been an owner surrender from a man who had him since he was a pup. This poor man was on oxygen and due to the hair clogging his filter had to give him up.Both Tommy and his owner were devistated. After hearing this story we decided we would continue to foster him as he had been bounced around numerous times with fosters.Tommy was 6 years old and not as desirable as puppies would be.We fell in love with him and he made himself right at home with our 2 pugs. After a few week! s my daughter Elaina 13 years old had begged us to keep him as she was head over heels for him as well.Elaina was going through an extremely tough time as our oldest son Patrick was being deployed for a second time to Iraq.On the very day he left we made it official and surprised Elaina in the evening with the approved adoption papers.Tommy has been a blessing to us all. What a joy he brings to our whole family daily.Tommy thrives on all the love , attention , walks and car rides he so dearly loves. We could have never hand picked a sweeter , well adjusted and well mannered guy.I so often want to thank the man who turned Tommy over so that he could have a good life and also to let him know that we appreciate the wonderful job he did with Tommy .Thanks to Ritchie County Humane Society in West Virginia for letting Homeward Bound Rescue in PA foster and adopt out so many loving dogs.

Teller
Teller

We had talked about adding a nother dog to our family. Then I saw a web page for the cutest little corgi mix on Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. His name was Teller and he had been saved from a West Virgina animal shelter and was being fostered along with his shelter buddy Penn (a black lab mix). They were so cute together that we considered both of them. However our lil girl Harley had a different opinion. She took to Teller but not Penn. So we adopted aka Teller and watched sadly as Penn left to go back home with his foster mom. Teller (now David-son) has happily bonded with the whole family. He is such a happy guy! And he's even more happy that his former shelter buddy Penn found a forever home this past weekend. Happy Tails to All!
